International Friendship with China

Rizhao is a prominent port city on the coast of China. Rizhao gets its name from an old saying meaning "it is a place enjoying the first sunshine of dawn". Rizhao is one of the 15 key coastal cities designated by the State. The excellent geographic location, rich natural resources, and improving urban functions provide sustainable development for Rizhao.

The friendly relationship started when 3 people from China introduced Rizhao to Muroran. Muroran and Rizhao have conducted many exchanges in arts, education, government, industry, medicine, and trade. As the result of the enduring friendship made between Muroran and Rizhao, Friendship City Agreement was established on July 26, 2002.
