A Special Ambassador from Knoxville, Tennessee USA

The City of Knoxville sent us a wonderful charming ambassador!!

Ambassabear, an approximately 48 inch-wide (132cm) and 52 inch-tall (122cm) fiber glass hollow bear statue, was presented to us as a lasting symbol of our friendship from Knoxville in July 2002. His first public appearance in Muroran was at a newly opened park near JR Muroran Station on July 25, 2002 when the Knoxville Mayoral Delegation visited Muroran.

Ambassabear, the first bear created for "Bear foot in the City", an art campaign project that provided local artists with more than 30 fiberglass bear statues to use as 3D canvas and sold them and raise funds and benefit from auctions for local art activities, and appeared in the Dogwood Arts Festival Parade in April 2001 at Knoxville. He was designed by Tommy Strokes and finished by Catherine Freeman and Bernie Hand.

His current social appearance is shown at the main lobby of Muroran City Hall Building.
